Day 15 - Hell Of a Day!!

Idaho Fall, ID to Jackson, WY
Distance: 89 miles
Time: ~8 hrs
Elevation Gain: 5,440 ft

Internet connection was too slow to post last night.  See Day 14 under archive for yesterday's post and photos.

We crossed another state line going into Wyoming and had two BIG climbs toady, and the weather was perfect for it.  Cool with overcast skies in the morning and it never got above the high 70's all day.  We road over two mountain passes today; the first was Mt Pine Creek and the climb started at mile 60 and took us up to 6,764 ft at the summit, the climb was long but not to difficult.  The 2nd was the hardest climb of this tour, the Teton Pass, the climb started at about mile 71 and the summit was at 8,431 ft at mile 77.  The last three miles was at a 10+% grade, I road about 1 1/2 miles before the pain in my right knee got a little to intense (too much stress) and I had to stop and walk for a while,  I got back on near the top and finished the climb.  The scenery was breath-taking, and I'm not talking about the climb.  We road along the Snake River as we climbed back into high mountain pine forest with spectacular views with something new to amazed at around every corner.  I'm too tired to describe what I saw, so see pics below for a small taste.  Tomorrow we climb higher as we cross the Continental Divide at Togwotee Pass at 9,658 ft!!
