Distance: 88 miles
Time: 6.5 hrs
Elevation Gain: 4,285 ft
Toady we road to the highest elevation of the tour; THE CONTINENTAL DIVIDE at 9,658 ft!! This is the highest elevation that I have ever ridden a bike over. The day started with cool temperatures in the mid 50's and warmed up to the high 80's. It was sunny in the morning with clouds moving in by late morning and early afternoon. We started the day by ridding 28 miles through the Teton National Park with assume views of the Teton Mountain range. We road on Rt. 26E and road was in great shape. The ride was slightly uphill to our first SAG stop at mile 34. We then started the long 17 mile climb up Togwotee Pass to the summit at the Continental Divide. The climb had grades of 4 to 7% and every few miles I had to stop to catch my breath and rest my legs. The cloud coverage helped keep things cool during the climb above the snow line. Our 2nd SAG was at the Summit and it was a welcome sight. After a short rest I descended down the other side which was fast and the views were again just assume. Another 20 miles we reached our destination for the night at Dubois, WY. Tomorrow we head for Riverton, WY, it was supposed to be 79 miles but do to a washed out road we have to detoure around it adding about 12 miles.
