Day 14 - Rough Roads Ahead

Pocatello, ID to Idaho Falls, ID

Distance: 67 miles
Time: 5 hrs
Elevation Gain: 801 ft

It’s hard to believe that we have been ridding for two weeks, the time has been going by fast and it’s getting hard to know what day it is.  Today we had another great day.  A short ride, 65 miles, with sunny skies.  The temperature was about 60 at the start and the low 90’s by early afternoon.  Most of the roads that we road on were county roads and backcountry roads and some were pretty rough and bumpy.  We are starting to see a lot more trees and green countryside as we ride our way to higher elevations.  We road through farm land and rolling hills and are starting to see more cattle and horses as well as dogs that chase you as you ride by.  We have a BIG ride tomorrow, 89 miles to Jackson, ID. We will ride over Pine Creek Mt with a summit of 6,764 ft and then we ride over Teton Pass with a summit of 8,431 ft with the last 3 miles at a 10+% grade.  The descent will be technical as you can reach speeds of 55+mph, I don’t plan to go that fast, I just want to get down in one piece.
