Day 31 - Another 100 Bites the Dust

Mankato, MN to Rochester, MN

Distance: 102 miles
Time: 7.25 hrs
Elevation Gain: 2,805 ft

As promised we had another hot and humid day, but not as bad as yesterday.  We were on the road before 6:30 am and it was already 80 degrees and it got up to the mid 90's by early afternoon.  We had a strong 20 mph SSW wind all day that helped cool things off.  The wind was mostly a cross wind and sometimes a tailwind, and every now a than it was a nasty evil headwind.  We road through more corn fields and soybean fields, but there were a lot more hills, trees, farmhouses, and small grain silos then yesterday.  A lot of the roads were in very bad shape with cracks every 20 feet or so with large pot holes that could cause you crash, you had to pay close attention to the road and were you were ridding.  My right knee was in quite a bit of pain after ridding several hours over cracks every 20 feet. We were routed through several detours today due to road construction and onto a bike path when we got into Rochester.  The bike path took us along a river and through several parks, it was good to get off the roads on out of traffic.  Tomorrow we have a shorter day, 88 miles as we ride into our 6th state to La Crosse, WI and it is suppose to be a bit  cooler - in the mid 80's.
