Today was a good day on the bike. It's nothing now to get up in the morning and put 70, 80, 90 miles in by early afternoon. We had an early start due to the long mileage and the chance of rain and rain it did, all day. The temperatures stayed in the mid to high 70's all day and the rain was light up until the last few miles. We started our ride out of Henrietta by getting on the Canalway Trail just outside of town. The trail took us along the Erie Canal for about 20 miles and it was a nice break from ridding on busy roadways. The trail started as a paved bike path that turned into a hard pack limestone path. The Trail took us by some small towns and a through couple of small communities with houses right next to the trail and the canal. The trail also took us pass a couple of working locks, but there were any boats in the Canal that I could see. After getting off the Canalway Trail we road on a busy highway with wide shoulders the rest of the way to Liverpool. There were many small towns and more forest, but no corn fields or farms that I remember seeing.
There are only 5 more days of ridding, but the last three days will be the hardest since having to climb the mountain pass in the west. Tomorrow we have a 78 mile ride to Little Falls, NY with only a slight chance of rain.
