Day 10 - Ride Like the Wind!!

Boise, ID to Mountain Home, ID

Distance: 54 miles
Time: 3.25 hrs
Elevation Gain: 1,811 ft

Today was a great day!  The weather was cool in morning with storm clouds looming in the distance behind us and sunny sky's in front of us.  The temperature was moderate and we had strong tail winds that pushed us along (maybe up to 30 mph at times).  We started the day with a nice ride on the bike path for the first 8 miles, then on back roads, and a 11 mile stretch on I 84 to the first SAG stop at mile 25.  At the SAG stop, storm clouds were moving in and the wind picked up.  The winds were from the west and we were heading east.  We traveled on back country road with long straight sections and with some rolling hills. We were being pushed by the wind and it was easy to hit 30 to 35 mph on the flat stretches without hard pedaling.  The storm never caught us and I made it to the hotel at 11:45.  The senery was mostly desert and open range land.  Some of the roads were very rough, but with very little traffic.  Tomorrow will be a long day on the bike, 97 miles to Twin Falls, ID.
